MOWCHBARROW

Matthew has gone and fucked up his thumbs doing a moshbarrow to Millencolin in his living room last night. Hope he’ll be all healed up and able to drum again in time for our next rehearsal…

“Thudding, epic thrash that’ll shag your girlfriend, drink your beer and eat your steak. Fabulous, then.”

Explode your head!

“What is the hottest media topic of 2008?”

The Quarry (95%)

The ‘credit crunch’ (2%)

The US Presidential election (2%)

Other (1%)

Opinion polls do not lie.

Unless you are a hermit and live in a cave/ forest you will be all too keenly aware of the South London Thrash Revival, spearheaded by the band that everybody is talking about, The Quarry.

The four-piece outfit and their relentless aural assault are the talk of the town: working men in their flat caps take a break from drinking and brawling to mutter about them in public houses; the middle classes put aside talk of house prices and chatter incessantly about them at their dinner parties, oblivious to the fact that their Vienetta is melting and their Gold Blend is going cold; heated debates rage in the House of Commons: is “A Flame to Light the Dark” the best thrash album since “Reign in Blood” or is it the finest hour bar none in the history of this noble genre?

Despite being bombarded on all sides by blanket media coverage, few have been lucky enough to witness the band’s furious live performances.  Notoriously secretive, the MFQ rarely promote their shows: details of their appearances are whispered urgently in back alleys, corridors, darkened rooms and public toilets.

Now you have the chance to attend the grand finale of The Quarry’s 2008 November Reign Tour.  You can tell your grandchildren, “I was there.”  And as they sneer, “Grandma/Grandpa, you were never cool or rad enough to see The Quarry, you old toad,” you can produce a t-shirt (£5) or CD (£3) to prove that, once upon a time, long ago, you were not an incontinent, saliva-soaked burden on your family but a metal moshing mad Quarrior.

Details below: be there or live the rest of your life in regret.

Saturday 29 November, 4-8pm, Notting Hill Arts Club.  Entry is a credit crunch busting £0.  That’s right: free, gratis, gratuit.  The Quarry will be storming the stage at 6.30pm.
